One of the main goals of the Contego mountain bike team is develop the next generation of stars. This year Tayla Odendal, Louw Kriel, Sybrandt Strauss and Sonique Louw will represent Team Contego/Sludge'ish.

The 15-year-old Kriel has started the year with a bang and he is looking good with the first race of the national cross country series this Saturday at the Slammer-track, Durbanville.
Two weekends ago Kriel was second in the first race of the Western Province cross country series on the Slammer-track. Sybrandt Strauss finished third in this race. Sonique was second in her age group, making Team Contego/Sludge'ish the "juniors" team with the most WP XC points.

On Saturday Kriel easily won the 27km race at the Porcupine Ridge MTB Challenge in Franschhoek.
According to Kriel he is really looking forward to the coming weekend's event. Kriel added that he really enjoys being part of the Team Contego/Sludge'ish set-up. "Its a lot of fun!"
