Team Contego/Giant's Erik and Ariane Kleinhans won the mixed category of the Cape Pioneer Trek, a multi day stage race over six day from Oudtshoorn to Oudtshoorn covering more than 650km. This was Erik and Ariane's third mixed victory of the year after also winning this category at Joberg2c and Sani2c.

They won five stages of the six and their overall winning time was 31 hours, 15 minutes and 23 seconds. Beating the closet rivals by more than a hour. They managed an eight place overall. Ariane was also the Queen of the Mountains.
It was at the Pioneer a year ago that Erik and Ariane met for the first time.
The Hanekom-brothers, Sakkie and Hannes, managed a sixth place overall.
